The football club FC Stockheim had been planning the construction of an artificial turf football pitch with floodlights for several years. Once a suitable plot of land had been found together with the municipality, the next steps were planned. Once the planning concept was finalised, the next major hurdle was financing the flagship project. Thanks to the support of local sponsors and funding from the European LEADER project, the sports club was able to secure sufficient financial resources and the dream of having its own artificial turf pitch was within reach. The planning effort for the artificial turf project was extensive and the board formed individual working groups to spread the organisation of the construction phases over several shoulders. It quickly became clear that the Existing changing rooms and showers too far away from the new property and their capacities will not be sufficient for the new artificial turf pitch. Various alternatives were weighed up. A permanent structure would be too expensive. So the idea was born, to consider containers for the construction of the sports facilities. Simple standard containers with external dimensions of 6.05 m x 2.43 m proved to be too small. Neither changing rooms nor shower rooms large enough for the football club could be built from this format. It also turned out that the standard containers did not have fully tiled showers and robust sanitary facilities. A "construction site standard" solution was not an option for the club.
Container modules as a real alternative
Turnkey sports facility container: clubhouse with special façade
With the Company PH Container GmbH from Schwabach The sports club found what it was looking for in Franconia. Four container modules, each 8 metres x 3 metres, were used to create a Container system with two changing rooms for the home and visiting teams and a central wet room with three showers and toilets each. Public toilets for spectators and a technical and storage room were planned in the fourth room module. Even during the planning phase, it became clear that the modular construction would eliminate a large number of interfaces. The sports club only had to take care of the foundations, water and electricity connections in addition to the planning permission. Everything else came as a turnkey solution from PH Container. After the association was Construction of the new sports facilities The company also wanted to do the work itself, it quickly became apparent that a local carpenter could build an additional roof with an integrated canopy on top of the system, which would significantly reduce the maintenance work on the flat roof.
The only question that remained was how to adapt the exterior design of the new sports centre. When weighing up the various facades, the idea of a Front wooden louvre façade in front of the profiled sheet metal of the containers. This can be easily realised by the association itself, is therefore manageable in terms of costs and can be easily dismantled again in the event of an extension or relocation of the container modules.
