Extension of the Kleinsteinach crèche built in a very short time

When the existing crèche in Kleinsteinach in Riedbach became too small, the municipality decided to expand in modular designto expand the existing building as quickly as possible. The tender, which was won by PH Container, was awarded in March 2022. Just a few months later, in August, we were able to complete the extension with a spacious Container building to the municipality. We worked successfully with the local architects on this project.

A particular challenge in this project was the restricted access to the site, which made it necessary to move the individual Container modules can be shuttled individually. This meant that all the containers had to be transferred from the large articulated lorries to the loading area of a flatbed truck so that it could pass through the narrow passageway. This required a Special logistical coordinationwhich we successfully mastered. The building site was also located on a steep slope, which is why the foundations for the container system had to be constructed at a corresponding height on two sides. The emergency exit on this side was therefore equipped with an external staircase to ensure the prescribed escape route.

In order to visually harmonise the container facility with the existing building, it was given an HPL façade in the red tone of the existing building. We insulated the outer walls of the room modules in accordance with the current legal requirements of the EnEV. The additional monopitch roof of the modular system is prepared for a photovoltaic system. The interior design of the container walls was carried out in F30 gypsum plaster and was finished with environmentally and interior paints that are harmless to health and therefore fulfils the high legal requirements. The high-quality linoleum flooring, the colour scheme of which the kindergarten staff had a say in, also ensures a pleasant atmosphere.

The interior ceiling is clad with acoustic panels and with an interior height of 2.75 metres, the result is a Airy feeling of space. High-quality BAP louvre luminaires provide glare-free lighting. The escape routes are fitted with escape lights and safe access to the extension is ensured with LED exterior lighting. The container system is heated with electric low-temperature convectors to prevent kindergarten children from getting burnt. The sanitary installation was also designed for children. The doors of the WC cubicles are fitted with anti-trap protection and small, low-hanging Geberit children's WCs. A child-friendly washing facility was realised by means of a low-mounted porcelain washing trough with 3 washing places. Hot water heaters with scald protection provide hot water.
